on iOS why is it working on Release but not on Debug?

Asked on July 18, 2016 in Technical.

Hi

I have one app and have my own custom domain. Things work on prod.

I made a new app (on branch.io) with more or less the same parameters I have for prod but for dev (e.g com.mycompany.myapp -> com.mycompany.myapp-dev, a url scheme myapp-dev://, the dev apple id, etc) but things don’t work at all
I have tried more or less everything I could (with universal links, without, with forcing branch to open the app, …) but it always show the redirect url, it doesn’t open the app.
Any tip? Im banging my head against walls.

Thanks

Hi!

This is actually what our test environment is designed for. Are you trying to have both Branch configs open the same app on your phone, or are the production and dev builds separate? I’m having trouble pulling up your Branch apps — you might want to send in a ticket to our Integration Engineering team so they can take a look at the back end too.

Hi Alex

I have sent a ticket, thanks. Can you see it?

our dev and prods apps are separate, and we have a special custom domain for the prod app, not for the dev app

Does it help?

Best Regards

It should be in the queue! If you don’t have an answer by the end of the day, let me know and I’ll follow up with the team

Thanks so much for your patience! I definitely see it in there now, and have also alerted the integrations team so they will be sure to notice 🙂

hi, the support was very helpful, unfortunately I can’t access my ticket at all/ reply

The answer they gave was to add the entitlements file to the project target…. this made it. I would suggest to add a note in the “integration SDK” doc

Please say thanks to them

Ahhh…yes, that stupid Xcode thing. I actually ran into it myself yesterday and cannot understand why Apple doesn’t include the entitlements file by default. Glad you got it working, and I agree that adding a note to the guide is a good idea.
