Facebook Crawler not accepting Dynamic Links

Asked on November 27, 2016 in Technical.

Hi there,

I cannot get dynamic branch links to work without debugging each URL first in FB’s Debug tool.

Say I have this link: https://myaccount.app.link/appid?samplekey=123

I tested and I must submit it to FB crawler to get it accepted by FB Ads…

Looks like I have to go through the whole process again if I want to use a different link: https://myaccount.app.link/appid?samplekey=456

What I need is to be able to use 1 key but multiple/changable values.

Is there a way I can get this to work without going through the debugger tool every time? Maybe I’m missing anything?

Thanks in advance

Hey – thanks for posting the process.

You can use the below code to automate the scraping process

curl --insecure "https://graph.facebook.com/?id=[YOUR-URL-TO-SCRAPE]&scrape=true"

This is documented here: https://dev.branch.io/features/facebook-ads/support/android/#rescrape-the-og-tags

Hi Ankit, thanks for your answer.

Is there a way to not having to debug links at all? It seems like a painful and unnecessary process, especially when talking about dynamic parameters…defeats the whole purpose hehe

I read here: https://dev.branch.io/features/facebook-ads/support/ios/#known-issue-with-app-restrictions that I could use a direct deep link:

myapp://open?link_click_id=link-242052337263342024

Do you guys know how can I get Branch to pickup parameters in a direct deeplink like the example below and pass it into the app?

myapp://open?link_click_id=link-242052337263342024&SAMPLEKEY=123

You can embed the data in the Branch link and then use the direct deep link. When the app is opened via a direct deep link, Branch will return the deep link parameters upon SDK initialization.
