Are Custom Link Labels case-sensitive?

Asked on August 2, 2016 in Technical.

Are Custom Link Labels case-sensitive? For example, if my link is customdomain.com/MyGoogleCampaign can I also send traffic to customdomain.com/mygooglecampaign?

For me, case-sensitive would be preferred.

Thanks, Alex, and good point on W3! Bit.ly is case-sensitive, too.

Hi!

Yes, they are case sensitive. Insert obligatory mention of ‘be careful not to confuse your users’ here 🙂

Thanks for the quick reply!

If possible, I would vote to make them not case-sensitive in the future. Or have that as an option. We work with a lot of affiliates and it’s helpful to reduce the opportunities for errors.

Recommendation noted! I doubt this will be changing because URLs (other than the host name) are defined as case sensitive in the official W3 spec. This seems to be fairly standard among similar URL-based services, but you could always pre-create alternative case versions if you expect any specific confusion.
